Glass Doors Vs Wood Doors

Glass Doors Vs Wood Doors

If you’re in the market for a door, you probably have a good idea of what you’re looking for. Well, before you make a purchase, let me bring up a few things that you may not have considered; this is especially for those of you that are looking for a glass or wooden door. I’ll be going over the pros and cons of both styles. This way, you can be sure of your decision or start considering another option. A certain style of door for your home, business, or wherever you may want to install one in the San Bernardino/Riverside, Los Angeles, or Orange county areas.

So, the first style we’ll discuss is the wood door, and I’ll be going over the cons first. Let’s start with the price, which is a little more on the expensive side, when it comes to doors. They are fairly pricey, but I’m sure you already knew that if you’ve been searching for one. For those of you in wetter or more humid climates, wood doors absorb moisture. This can cause a need for replacement more often than you’d like. Heat can cause it to peel or form bubbles and a mixture of heat/cold can warp or twist the wood. All of this means that the door will require regular maintenance. I should also add that this door is not energy efficient, meaning more money spent on the AC and Heater. That about summed up the negative points, so let’s go over some positives. As you can tell, it looks absolutely beautiful and high end. There’s no doubt that some will stop to admire the door, due to its astounding good looks. Some of those scratches that it will accumulate over the years tend to come off easily. If looks are enough to keep you interested in this style, then I’m positive that you have already made your decision.

Now, on to glass doors and their negatives; the first I’ll bring up is the curtains that will need to be bought and installed, alongside the doors. This may not seem like a big deal, but something else to think about is how vulnerable glass doors are to being damaged. The cons are out of the way, so the first pro I’ll mention is that natural light that will be able to make its way into any room you install them in. That natural light will make any room glow and add a sense of beauty to it. They will also add a feeling of openness to the area, which can be good or bad. They are easily cleaned and resistant to bugs, such as termites. Unlike wooden doors, glass doors will not be damaged by the heat or cold. They will not rust, corrode, or come off; and, again, unlike their wooden counterparts, they won’t peel due to weather conditions.

So, I’ve listed a few things to consider. Hopefully you’ve found this informative and maybe it will help you with your decision. Good luck with your door shopping and I’m sure, with enough research and patience, you will find exactly what you’re looking for.
