Reasons Installing Security Gates is so Important for Your Business

San Diego County is a beautiful and scenic place to live and work; but just like any other area, it’s not without crime. That’s why so many businesses and homeowners are buying folding gates in San Diego County, as well as other security measures. You may think your business is secure with automatic doors, all types of fire doors, and rolling steel doors; but unless you have security gates installed, your business is not as secure as it could be.

Visual deterrent

Thieves and criminals obviously don’t want to get caught in the act. They may think your business is an easy target. When they see the security gates, though, they will think twice about breaking in. To them, it’s not worth the effort – they want to get in and out as quickly as possible. Security gates offer a visual deterrent that protects your business from would-be thieves.

Boys just want to have fun

Sometimes, when teenagers have nothing better to do, they drive around and just hang out with a few friends. Because it’s ‘not cool’ to go to someone’s house if parents are home, sometimes they find a seemingly deserted property (or a property where everyone has gone home for the night), bring their beer and even start a bonfire. All in the name of having fun and hanging out with the guys! While they won’t necessarily damage your property, and don’t have any intention of stealing anything, they are still trespassing.

Animals

Trespassers don’t just come in human form either. There are plenty of animals that scour your property at night looking for yummy treats, or a comfortable place to sleep. While they may not get inside your building, they can roam your property and damage anything that you’ve left outside, including your vehicles.

Peace of mind

When you know that your property is going to be in the exact same form you left it the night before, you’ll sleep more peacefully at night.

There are several different types of gates you can choose from, and each has their advantages and disadvantages.

Folding Gates

Folding gates in San Diego County are easy to find, and they are ideal for small business owners. These can be made of galvanized steel which will hold up to all kinds of weather. They are easy to install and are generally cheaper than other types of gates. They are not ideal for large areas, though.

Sliding Gates

Sliding gates are a good choice if space is a concern. Simply slide the gate open sideways. These are usually made of steel or another strong metal. One side acts as the anchor, and then the other side is movable and slips in beside the anchored portion. These are easy to operate and install. They can be noisier than other types of gates, and they require more maintenance than other gate styles.

Swing Gates

Swing gates can open from the outside or the inside and are generally used if space is not a concern. These don’t need a lot of maintenance and rarely malfunction. They are typically more expensive than slide or folding gates.

Automatic doors vs. manual

All gates can be equipped with automatic or manual opening/closing mechanisms. And of course, each comes with a security lock that will make breaking in very difficult.

Whether you choose to purchase folding gates in Riverside, San Diego County or other types of gates, you can rest assured your property is well protected.
